It was a privilege to meet the resident of the 1,000th void property completed for Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) under our current two-year contract which is due to finish in March.

The two-bedroom flat in the London Borough of Ealing has been fully refurbished to the new Renew Standard. Works included a newly fitted kitchen and bathroom, full redecoration, and new floor coverings throughout, delivering a modern, welcoming home ready for immediate occupation.

Our project team, alongside NHG’s Voids and Allocations teams, met with the new resident, Charlene Flanders, an NHS worker, who shared:

“I am so happy with my new home. It’s really lovely – everywhere is clean and freshly painted with new carpets throughout. The standard of finish is very good. I’m looking forward to taking my time to add my own touches to my forever home.”

For our Voids team, it was a rare and rewarding opportunity to meet a resident and see first-hand the impact that a permanent, high-quality home – ready to move straight into.

R. Benson has been working in partnership with NHG to refurbish over 4,000 void properties since 2019. In recent years, we have collaborated closely with the NHG Empty Homes team to review and enhance specifications, establishing the Renew Standard. What began as a small pilot project has since evolved into a programme now being rolled out across all London boroughs ensuring high standard properties for all residents.

Amy Nelsen, Director of Strategic Asset Management, NHG says, “We are delighted to have created such a positive relationship with R. Benson, and reaching a milestone of 1,000 NHG voids is testament to that.  This is especially meaningful as so many of these homes have been fully refurbished to our high “renew” standard with new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and sustainability improvements which really give a fresh start to incoming residents. It’s wonderful to see the difference this makes for residents as they move into their new homes.”

Following the successful completion of the current contract we are also delighted to announce that we have been appointed as one of the contractors on the new Empty Homes Framework and look forward to commencing work under the framework on 1 April 2026.

Marcus Neal, Director, said: “Reaching the milestone of our 1,000th void completion under the current contract is a significant achievement for our team. It reflects the strength of our partnership with Notting Hill Genesis and our shared commitment to delivering high-quality homes that residents can be proud of. Knowing that our work provides people with a safe, comfortable place to call home is what drives us every day, and we are excited to continue building on this success under the new framework.”
