R. Benson were instructed to support Barnet Homes appointed Type 4 FRA surveyors and assisting them in gaining access to areas of concern in relation to fire safety. This included lofts, removing and refitting of bath panels, ducts, floorboards and wall coverings. This project allowed Barnet Homes to complete a fully intrusive Fire Risk Assessment which will provide them with a better understanding of their buildings and provide a platform for remediation works. The R. Bensons team of technicians were responsible for opening areas and making good after the FRA inspection, carrying out suitable repairs in order that the fire integrity of properties was maintained. These works were carried out throughout the London Borough of Barnet at Barnet Homes’ properties.
Achieving Milestones
R. Benson work closely with the Barnet Homes and WSP teams to co-ordinate the works and ensure minimum disruption to the residents. Where necessary the R. Benson team organised follow-up appointments with residents to make good all repairs. All works were successfully completed within agreed timescales and extra measures were implemented to ensure COVID Secure work practices.

R. Benson is long term partner of Barnet Homes and over the last six years, R. Benson has successfully delivered several frameworks and supported Barnet Homes on various adhoc projects. R Bensons were approached by Barnet Homes for the delivery of these works to support WSP who were appointed to carry out the Type 4 FRA Surveys but do not undertake the specialist building works. Due to our existing relationship, we were able to support Barnet Homes by mobilising a qualified team of technicians to commence work within two weeks. We also provided additional support using our management and resident liaison teams to complete all additional follow-up works.
