We were instructed by the Royal Household to carry out works to the Grade 1 listed buildings at Broadlands Estate in Romsey, the former home of Lord Louis Mountbattern.

The works consisted of sympathetic alterations and adaptations to the main house and outbuildings, including brick and material matching for the existing environment.

A new large scale brick boiler house was constructed with lifting hatches to facilitate a bio-mass boiler, with subsequent connection of the service to the main house. The system is designed to be self sufficient, obtaining its fuel from the park area within the grounds, and may be considered as a demonstration project.

The works to the Grade 1 listed buildings included:

  • Ground works.
  • Steel fabrication.
  • Poured/shuttered concrete works.
  • Pipe/duct Laying.
  • Face brick/block work.
  • Bespoke joinery.
  • Purpose made automated roof hatches.
  • Traditional slate roofing.
  • Single membrane flat roofing.
  • External painting.
  • Tarmacing/surface dressing.
