The health and safety, as well as well-being of our staff, clients, residents and the general public is of paramount importance to R. Benson. We are proud of our exemplary track record and have the policies and procedures in place to continue to keep those we come into contact with safe.

We recognise Health and Safety (H&S) law as the minimum requirement, but our proactive approach aims for performance beyond compliance. Key to this is encouraging good behaviours and having accredited systems.

We believe that everyone is responsible for H&S and this philosophy of collective responsibility is cascaded throughout the business through H&S inductions, training and toolbox talks.

To ensure we deliver on our commitments we:

  • are Constructionline Gold, CHAS and Safe Contractor accredited
  • have an OHSAS45001 aligned H&S Management System
  • are working toward OHSAS 18001 accreditation
  • ensure all staff carry the appropriate CSCS cards for their role/trade

We are committed to ensuring all our managers receive appropriate training and as a minimum they have all received the following:

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • First Aid at Work
  • CDM Regulations 2015
  • Scaffold Inspection

In addition, all of our directly employed trades people receive mandatory training in common high-risk activities including manual handling and working at height, as well as job specific training.

We also engage an external H&S consultancy to manage and monitor all H&S policy and practice.

Constructionline Gold

We are delighted to announce that R. Benson is now Constructionline Level 3 (Gold) accredited. We believe that achieving this accreditation proves our commitment to ensuring the highest level of quality, health and safety and environmental awareness on every project we deliver.

To achieve the Gold member status we have passed an enhanced verification questionnaire and the health and safety standard required of Constructionline’s Safety Systems in Procurement (SSIP) scheme.
