Grand Arcade Refurbishment for Charity Art Against Knives

By 24th February 2020News

R. Benson is a proud partner of Barnet Homes and committed to supporting its residents and the wider community.

As part of our commitment to Barnet Homes we have recently completed the refurbishment of the community space and offices used by charity Art Against Knives. The space in the Grand Arcade, North Finchley, used by Art Against Knives, provides a safe space for young people to build on their strengths and create opportunities. The programmes run from the centre include The In Our Hands Programme and The LAB Programme.

During the Christmas shut down period our teams of tradespeople took the opportunity to improve all areas of the space, all walls were painted, flooring replaced, new storage areas built and a new kitchenette area created for staff to use.  The team was delighted with the results of the makeover which has brightened up the space, created some additional storage and improved fire safety.

We would like to thank our supply chain partners who kindly provided some of the materials for this community project including Magnet Trade Kitchens, STS Flooring, Polyflor, and Quantum Flooring Solutions.

Joshua Imuere, Chief Executive of Art Against Knives said; ‘Having the support from Barnet Homes and R Benson has made a really positive difference for our space in Finchley and the sense of wider support from stakeholders in our team. Not only was the space fully refurbished to a high standard, the timings adhered to during the Christmas break meant that there was minimal disruption to our delivery. We are now exploring a few additional extras which again is testament to the commitment within this opportunity. Many thanks from all at AAK’.

Director, Marcus Neal said; “We welcome every opportunity to support Barnet Homes and their residents and were particularly pleased to have been involved with this award-winning project that provides opportunities and support for the young people of LB Barnet.”
