Fire Doors and Stopping

Project Overview

R. Benson was instructed to carry out the replacement of over 70 fire doors at Mary Holben House, which consists of 48 one-bedroomed apartments for the over 60’s. The works consisted of a mixture of replacement FD30 Fire rated riser doors, FD60 electric cupboard fire doors, and FD60 Communal Fire Doors. The building was fully occupied for the duration of the works.

Achieving Milestones

As an existing supplier to Optivo, R. Benson was able to mobilise quickly to deliver the works at Mary Holben House. All work was carried out by our qualified directly employed technicians who installed the fire doors and our multi-trades who carried out all the making good and decorations. Work was inspected and signed off by our competent site manager and all works were FIRAS certified at handover.

Added Value

R. Benson successfully delivered these works with the building in full occupation with many vulnerable residents. Our site manager and RLO engaged with the scheme manager during the mobilisation period of this contract to explain the extent of the works and to understand any issues the residents may have while the works were being carried out. Weekly meetings were held for the duration of the works to review the short-term programme of works and address any issues or concerns raised by the residents. Our direct delivery teams were considerate and respectful during the works, ensuring noise was kept to a minimum and communal areas were kept clean and clear at all times.

Client Testimonial: Premises Manager

Good morning Alin, I just wanted to give compliments to your workman on site who have been very professional, helpful and polite to my residents and myself. I have had good feedback from my residents on how well they are getting the job done without too much inconvenience. The noise level of course cannot be avoided. I have also seen for myself the works of the replacement doors over the last couple of weeks. I have noted that your men are very considerate to residents when they are working making sure that their tools and materials are not in their way.
