We recently received a request from the Rosa Morison Day Centre to assist with the refurbishment of their mobile access steps and platform used by staff to access the Hydrotherapy Pool.
The Rosa Morrison Day Centre is a specialist service for adults with profound and complex learning and physical disabilities, supporting residents in LB Barnet and LB Haringey.
The bespoke steps, used by staff to enter the Hydrotherapy pool, were originally built and donated to the service 13 years ago and were in a poor state of repair. We were contacted by Barnet Homes to see if our experienced team could repair the steps for the Rosa Morison Team.
Contracts Manager, Mark Martin, visited the centre to inspect the steps and discovered that the boards were rotting and water was pooling on the steps. We sent our directly employed carpenter to the centre, stripped the steps back to the original frame and replaced the wooden boards. Our skilled floor layer then covered them with a hard-wearing, non-slip, vinyl covering. Our team of experienced tradespeople took just two days to completely overhaul the steps minimising the inconvenience to the staff and service users.
Richard Buckman, Manager at Rosa Morison said: “The hydro-pool here at Rosa Morison is a central focus of the therapy we offer our service users, so it was a concern that the steps to the hydro-pool had rotted away so badly. This meant the stairs were unsafe to use and that staff and service users would potentially not be able to access the pool for some time. So it was amazing that Barnet Homes’ contractors Bensons were able to do such a quick turnaround and repair the steps for us. In the end, the pool was only out of action for two days so brilliant job done by R. Bensons.”
Hopefully, the newly refurbished steps will last another 13 years!
