World Prematurity Day is observed on 17th November and is an issue very close to the heart for one member of our team.
On 15th November, we hosted an afternoon tea and held a raffle to raise funds for the Winnicott Foundation who improve care for premature and sick babies through supporting the neonatal units at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, and Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, Hammersmith. They work with staff and parents to meet the long-term and day-to-day needs of babies, families and neonatal units.
We would like to thank all the local businesses and our supply chain who supported our raffle, in particular, Brewers Decorator Centres who very kindly donated £250 and provided us with a gorgeous Dulux plush puppy which really boosted our ticket sales! We would like to say a massive thank you to the Elgiva Theatre, Wot Not Café Chesham, Odds Farm, Nando’s, The Entertainer and Wenzel’s the Bakers for helping us to raise £645.37p.
The money will be used to support premature and sick babies and their parents in neonatal units, the generosity of our supply chain and staff mean the charity can purchase specialist equipment such as a twin cot, incubator covers to help reduce noise and light or gel pillows to improve a baby’s comfort.
